Being Present and Feeling Grateful

Living by the sea makes you stop and just be in the present moment. Having been an expat in many places, the sea is always the most welcoming and where I feel most grateful.

There’s a magic to living by the sea. I knew it when we lived in Roatan, but I don’t think I fully appreciated it. Despite my constant raving about expat life on the island and encouraging everyone and their mother to live wherever makes them happy, I look back now and wonder if I was truly present and appreciative of the extraordinary circumstances of our life there.

When Friends Visit Your Expat Home

The importance of having old friends visit your new expat home

When friends visit your expat home, you turn into a de facto tour guide. It’s one of my favorite parts of being a serial expat – I get to continuously learn about new places and then to share that insight with some of my favorite people. We’ve only been living in Malta for a few months, but already we’ve had a few visitors!

Daily Life as an Expat in Malta: Walking Around Qawra

Daily Life as an Expat in Malta - Walking Around Qawra

The area of Malta that we live in is called St. Paul’s Bay. It’s in the northern part of the island of Malta and is a more recently developed area, being primarily built up in the 1960s and later.

Enjoy History at the In Guardia Parade in Valletta

All about the In Guardia Parade in Valletta Malta

If you haven’t yet noticed, I’m a bit of a history nerd. It’s inherited – my dad’s favorite line to say is: “Did you know…” followed by a fact or story of interest. And so, off we went to check out living history at the In Guardia Parade in Valletta so I could add to my random fact arsenal.
