How Can a US Citizen Get UK Residency Through Marriage

How a US citizen applied for UK residency through marriage to an EU national

Moving to new countries comes with a whole range of logistics to figure out and to check off a list. But by far the most important part of becoming an expat is the legal requirements involved. These are the details I can offer for how this US citizen got UK residency through marriage to an EU National. Please keep in mind that my experience will be different from yours, but this can at least offer a guideline from my perspective.

Volunteer for a Coastal Cleanup in Malta

Volunteer to join your community coastal cleanup

Recently, I joined a diverse group of people coming together for a common cause: I was a volunteer for a coastal cleanup in Malta. A coastal cleanup is a fantastic activity to do wherever you are in the world. There were many in Roatan, but I was never able to take part because of work or other commitments. This time around, I offer no excuses.

We’re a week into May now and I was just looking at some photos from the past few weeks. In the past month, we went from an expat failure in Ireland to loving life in Malta. We left cold, wet weather to come to endless sunshine. We changed from layers and layers of winter clothes to dressing like normal humans again. Oh, how quickly life can change!

Ireland hadn’t gone so well. We’d been out of the water and away from the sunshine for too long. But I’m incredibly happy to report that so far, moving to Malta has been fabulous!

We’ve been here two weeks, and yet we already feel like this is home. Part of that feeling has been the weather; part has been the ease with which we’ve settled in. But the largest part of that has been the people we’ve met.

Serial expat moving again

Another year, another adventure! We’re heading to a new destination this month because of a fantastic opportunity. As is common in the expat life, we’re moving somewhere new because we have itchy feet and we also see a new location as a fun new challenge.
