I decided I like making lists. So here’s one for today.

My happy list!

Things that have made me happy recently include:

– Being super productive at work. Lots of things are happening at Ocean Connections now and I’m right in the middle of it all. I like feeling like I’ve done something worthwhile every day. I can certainly say I’ve done that lately!

Tis the season!

The season for visitors! I’m knee-deep in fabulous family and friend time, so there’s just no time to update the blog. There’s just no time! Don’t be sad, there will be photos galore. Someday…

Until then, here’s my happy doggie chilling in the hammock. Just because.

Thinking of home…Boston <3

In an age of 24/7 news cycles and breaking news being Tweeted in real-time, I have to admit I’m pretty far outside the loop here on my little island. I lived in Washington, DC, for 4 years before coming here. Living in DC means staying up-to-date on Congressional subcommittee hearings and knowing the latest gossip about Congressional staffers. It’s being way too involved in the mundane details of professional politicians.

Remember that time…

Remember that time I said I would fill you in more on what I’m doing here and why it’s paradise? Well I was obviously too busy living in my paradise to be writing about it! Apologies all around. I’m getting back on the blogging train though, so stay tuned for more details and photos (yes! photos! finally!).

Until then, here’s what I’m listening to right now…I think it sums up my attitude pretty well.

My own personal paradise

Everyone who knows me well knows how much I absolutely LOVE hot weather. It makes me feel alive. Sunshine, wearing dresses, reading outside for hours, napping in hammocks…that’s my happy place. Anywhere near the equator can fill those basic requirements for happiness. But paradise? That takes something more.

Right now, in this moment, I am living in my own personal paradise.

Clinica Esperanza

Roatan medical care

When I first arrived in Roatan, Honduras, I stopped by the Clinica Esperanza in Sandy Bay. My friend, Kelly, is working there and I wanted to check out their program. It is AMAZING what they do on a daily basis. There are two other main hospitals on the island, one public (very limited resources) and one private (very expensive consults and treatment). Clinica Esperanza is a private licensed hospital but they offer affordable consults and all prescribed meds are free! The clinic sometimes even pays for transport to and treatments on the mainland that they aren’t able to provide here in Roatan.

Traveling hiatus!

While this blog was meant to track my travels, obviously I haven’t gone very far! After arriving in Roatan on November 10th, I’m still here with no plans to leave. The point of this trip was to find a place where I wanted to live and work, so here I am – I just lucked out finding a place right away. I’ll be here until Christmas (ish), stateside for the holidays, and then back here for however long I want to stay. And all I can do is smile. Life is so beautiful <3

Updates to come: volunteering, working, and living on the island. Sorry for the long gap between posts, I’ll try to be better from now on!
