Roatan Insider Tips: What’s Happening This Weekend (2/20/15)

For those of you visiting Roatan right now, here’s what’s going on this weekend (February 20-22, 2015) around the island that you don’t want to miss…

Friday night: The SOL Foundation’s 6th Annual “The FRO Must Go!” Fundraiser at Sundowner’s Beach Bar in West End. The SOL (School of Life) Foundation works to initiate and support community-based programs designed to promote education and to increase the quality of life in developing areas. Sporting events, after-school activities, and academic support programs are all important components of SOL’s work here in Roatan.

This annual fundraiser honors Paul (Chops) Hartsel’s amazing hair, as he grows it out for an entire year to raise money for the organization. BONUS: This year, if you wonderful people donate more than $2,000 online you can make him keep the fro for another whole year. I can’t even imagine what that would look like…but I kind of want to know!

The SOL Foundation's annual event is always a blast!

Saturday night: The Rotary Club of Roatan is holding a Wine & Cheese Tasting at The Bulk Gourmet near French Harbour. Proceeds go toward their Polio Eradication Project and this is sure to be a mouth-watering event! Head there for live music, good food and wine, and even the option to get a little artistic with a local painter.

Sunday night: Infinity Bay Resort in West Bay is hosting an Oscars night party at their Palapa Beach Bar. Red carpet specials will be available and you can choose to watch the Oscars on TV or watch the waves glide along the sand. Basically a win-win.

A night at the Oscars meets a night on the beach at Infinity Bay on West Bay beach.

Have a great weekend!
