Roatan Fundraiser Events

The next event in the 8th Annual Golden Buoy competition benefiting the SOL Foundation will be hosted this Friday, May 29th, at Bananarama Resort in West Bay. Grab a buddy and form your poker team, but make sure you can both show a poker face after several drinks, too.

Roatan Fundraiser

This ain’t your normal poker tournament, boys and girls. This is island-style, raising money for the kids, good old-fashioned fun. Teams of two will purchase a drink at each of the five designated West Bay bars to receive a playing card from the bar’s deck. Upon returning to Bananarama at 7pm, each team will play the hand they were dealt…ideally while still being able to actually read the cards.

Roatan Fundraiser EventWinning teams get some awesome prizes aboard Ruthless Charters and at the brand new Captain’s Corner sushi restaurant at Bananarama. All proceeds go to SOL Foundation, including proceeds from the Beach BBQ following the Poker Run. Free shuttles are provided to and from West End, so no excuses!

More about SOL Foundation

The SOL (School of Life) International Foundation works to initiate and support community-based programs designed to promote education and to increase the quality of life in developing areas. Through the support of grants and fundraisers like the Golden Buoy, SOL focuses on enhancing the standards of education, arts, and athletics in lesser developed areas.

SOL also raises money through its adult co-ed softball league, through the annual Music Festival for the Angels, and through other fundraisers throughout the year. The work they do for the island’s families is amazing – be sure to check out their website to see some of the specific programs they’re working on now: http://solroatan.org/

If you’re visiting Roatan between now and June 6th, be sure you’re subscribed to the blog and also connect with me on Facebook so you don’t miss out on any of these fabulous events.
