Coast to coast in Costa Rica along the golden sand beaches lined with palm trees

A while back, I went coast to coast in Costa Rica on a fabulous vacation with my fantastic cousin. She visited me in Ecuador and in Honduras (3 times!), and she initiated the planning of this outstanding Costa Rica trip. I’ve also just coaxed her into a visit to Scotland! That’s what brought up all these fun memories of trips past.

how to donate hair

Donating hair to Locks of Love was kind of a routine for me years ago. I donated twice in four years back in my teenage years and then a third time as a young professional. But it’s been many moons since then, so it’s high time I do it again.

Women in Travel Summit WITS logo

I recently spent a week in Portland, Maine, at the Women in Travel Summit (WITS) travel conference. To say I felt right at home would be a complete understatement! Joining together with several hundred fellow travel addicts for multiple days of inclusive seminars was a breath of fresh air I didn’t even realize I needed.

St Andrews and Fife Rabbie's tour in Scotland

If you’re visiting Scotland and basing much of your time around Edinburgh, you can easily take a day trip to many interesting locations. While public transportation is readily available and accessible, sometimes it just doesn’t quite get you where you want to go. For those places, it’s worthwhile taking a tour.

Rabbie’s tours are my personal favorite option for getting out of the city and seeing more. I did the Edinburgh city tour with Rabbie’s, which offers a fabulous overview of Edinburgh’s history and geography. After that, the Rabbie’s tour of St Andrews and Fife was the option my family chose when they came to visit us.

And what an excellent choice it was!

Island life as an expat - comparing Roatan and Malta

Best expat destinations is a common term I see floating around online all the time. I’ll be honest from the onset here: there is no way I could say any place on Earth is the best!

That’s because your opinion will undoubtedly differ from mine. And that’s what makes moving to new places and traveling such an important part of life.

Mountains and trees of Asturias Spain. All about house and pet sitting in Asturias Spain from expat writer Amanda Walkins

After our experiences housesitting in Edinburgh and then bouncing around housesitting in London for the whole summer, it was time for longterm housesitting in Spain for friends of ours. While we normally use TrustedHousesitters to find house and pet sits in various countries, this particular sit was not through the website.

*A warning before we continue: I just really want to share a lot of photos from these 3 months, so brace yourselves…animal + farm photos are coming.*

Housesitting in London with TrustedHousesitters

We spent last summer housesitting in London with TrustedHousesitters, which is the only housesitting and petsitting website we currently use. While some of our international sits are for friends or family, the vast majority are found through TrustedHousesitters.
