Random surprise: Some stranger posted our episode of House Hunters International in Roatan to YouTube! Although, he did mislabel it so it says it’s an episode in Paris. Paris, Roatan, same same right??

Anyway, it’s been quiet around here for no particular reason, which may soon be explained. But, in the meantime, please enjoy this stroll down memory lane with us!

House Hunters International in Roatan

We shot this episode many, many moons ago. It was early in our relationship and in my time on the island.

We are so very lucky to have this memory on film so we can always look back at those early days and laugh about being on a TV show with my family.

(Also, be warned: YouTube comments can always be crazy! Although many of the first ones here are super sweet, so we lucked out yet again!)

If you’re new around here and curious about what happened after our episode of House Hunters International in Roatan, here’s a quick rundown…

After Our Roatan Episode of House Hunters International

We lived in Roatan for about three years in that same apartment we chose on the episode. We loved our life there and had such a wonderful community of friends and a perpetual stream of visitors to stay with us.

Yes, that interrogation room was well-used.

We also worked together for quite a while before I quit my full-time job to become a full-time freelance writer instead.

It started because of this blog, which used to be called AWalk on the Run.

It then evolved into a content marketing career when International Living magazine reached out to me and started the ball rolling.

After Roatan

We left Roatan in the Fall of 2015. We headed to Boston to spend time with my family, and then we moved to Scotland to spend time with his.

There, we were married in the beautiful city of Edinburgh! We spent some wonderful, and some very difficult, days living in that gorgeous country.

From Scotland, we headed to Ireland for a long-term house and pet sitting gig in the countryside.

We wanted to explore the option of living in Ireland, so housesitting proved to be the perfect opportunity to try it out rent-free.

Alas, Ireland was not for us, so we opted to move on yet again.

Back to Sun and Sea

Missing the sunshine and warmth of our island days, we left the dreich of Scotland and the damp of Ireland to head to the sunny Mediterranean island of Malta.

We lived there, working and basking in the sea and sun while exploring one of the most fascinating tiny strips of land I’ve encountered.

Our friends visited yet again and we enjoyed showing them around our new expat home.

But time and circumstances were pulling us away, so we opted to leave Malta altogether for family and friends. And that is sort of where this blog has left off…

What’s Happened Since?

Currently, we are living in London for several months of back-to-back house and pet sitting with TrustedHousesitters.

We are loving spending time with furballs and exploring this vibrant city and all its incredible history and culture…all without any bills to pay.

We have been to London before, but this summer has been a whole new adventure for us. We have thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so that the Irish-Colombian wants to live here full-time!

Who knows if that will happen, because first, we have another long-term housesit coming up…this time back in my old stomping grounds of Spain!

We’ll be living in Asturias for a few months, hanging out with goats and chickens and a stray kitten recently found in the garden.

And my favorite part about this is that we’ll be taking care of the home of a friend we made while living in Roatan.

We haven’t seen her in years but we’ve kept in touch across continents and now, finally!, we have the chance to meet up again and to share another space and time together.

Everything comes full circle eventually. Even though we don’t live in Roatan anymore, our Roatan ties are strong and far-reaching.

We keep in touch with many friends from there and we would love to visit them and our island paradise again someday.

Until then, we love that we have these memories on camera to forever hold frozen in time. Enjoy the ride!
